Student historians from Stony Brook University’s Mu Pi chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society visited Special Collections on Wednesday, December 6 to learn more about the University Libraries’ unique research and primary source collections. On view was a wide range of unique items ranging from a 1793 letter written to Thomas Jefferson about Montauk Point to artifacts from the University Archives. Phi Alpha Theta is an American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 400,000 members and 970 chapters nationwide. SBU’s Mu Pi chapter was founded in 1967. Special thanks to history major and honor society vice president Erin Becker for facilitating the visit.
