On Thursday, July 30, 2015, Jay Levenson, an Access Services clerk in the Stony Brook University Libraries, will be sharing his knowledge of native culture with the students in ANT 203: Native Peoples of North America taught by Madeline Cherney.
Jay will be involved in a recreation of a fictional interview by an anthropologist with some academic knowledge of Northeast native cultures. He will be portraying a Mohawk scout from the period of 1755/1756. As a Mohawk scout, Jay will discuss the affiliation with the British and what his duties and responsibilities are as a scout. He will respond to questions about his clothing, heritage, weapons and political relations.
The reenactment will begin at 3:15pm and will be held in SBS N501 (or outside, weather permitting).
All are welcome to attend!
